Houston Food Bank Visits Capitol Hill To Discuss Nutrition Programs

Advocacy in action for nutrition programs benefiting all Americans.

Did you know the Houston Food Bank distributes almost 21 million pounds of food that is funded through Governmental Programs? One program, The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) provides USDA commodities to Houston Food Bank, which allows us to distribute to our partner agencies within 18 southest Texas counties. This program is housed within the Farm Bill, and is up for reauthorization soon. On the list of items discussed during these meetings was including a "Buy American" clause for all Farm Bill programs.
