'Tis The Season To Volunteer

Holiday Volunteer Opportunities at the Food Bank
Holiday Volunteer Opportunities at the Food Bank

Learn how you can give back this holiday season!

This holiday season, thousands of southeast Texans will be given a box of nonperishable foods, a bag of produce and a bag of frozen meat. Volunteers are need to help assemble 25,000 holiday boxes and to help register clients to receive holiday boxes.

Volunteers ages 16 and up are needed to help with our Share Your Holidays Phone Bank! Volunteers will register clients by phone to receive holiday food boxes from the Houston Food Bank. In performing these duties, volunteers help tens of thousands of people access the food they need over the holidays. Volunteers work alongside Houston Food Bank staff to receive incoming phone calls from members of the community in need of food support.  Volunteers will capture pertinent information from clients and enter it into a database.  A standard script will be provided and volunteers will be trained on the database software upon arrival. No volunteer will be asked to receive phone calls until they are fully comfortable with their duties.  Spanish speakers are especially needed.

If you are interested in either volunteer opportunity, please register online at houstonfoodbank.civicore.com or contact Rocio Rubio for more information.
