Student Heroes at the Houston Food Bank

The Student Heroes program at the Houston Food Bank trains high school students in core principles of leadership.

Houston Food Bank’s Student Heroes Leaders is a volunteer program specifically designed for high school students at the sophomore to senior level. These committed volunteers will not only help the Food Bank lead the fight against hunger, but will also develop key leadership skills. During the Fall session from mid-August to mid-January, Student Heroes will accomplish the following:

• Train and oversee volunteers in various projects at the Houston Food Bank to ensure that volunteers have a meaningful experience.
• Coordinate a Food/Supply Drive to help those in need in our community.
Attend HFB sponsored professional development workshops provided by staff and guest speakers.
• Understand hunger as a southeast Texas issue and learn to measure the impact of their work. All volunteer projects have an impact measurement tied to the issue of hunger.

If you are a sophomore, junior, or senior and can commit to 50 volunteer hours during the Fall Session, please consider applying to become a part of the Student Heroes program. The application process is now open and ends August 3, 3:00 p.m.
