Hunger Dinner Recap 

f.r.e.s.h. young professionals and IKEA Houston hosted their first-ever Hunger Dinner on Wednesday, June 24.  Guests drew tickets at random that assigned them to either high-, middle-, or low-income tiers, based on the latest Houston statistics. The 80+ attendees received a meal that corresponded to their income level. Some guests only received a small bowl of rice and water. Hunger Dinner.jpg

Lilly Jang of KHOU/Channel 11 told real-life Houston Food Bank client stories and led a thought provoking discussion. The story of the client that moved from low to middle-income after completing the Houston Food Bank’s Serving for Success program received applause from the audience. After this eye-opening experience guests enjoyed a full dinner provided by IKEA Houston and Leprechaun Cider. All proceeds benefited the Houston Food Bank.Guests included f.r.e.s.h. Board members: Sarah Daniel, Annamarie Dober, Matthew Heberlein, Leslie Jackson, Jacqueline Jones, Latrice Tubbs.
