Bank of America Gives a Meal

For the past seven years, Bank of America has supported the Houston Food Bank through grant funding, including an unrestricted Neighborhood Builders grant of $200,000 in 2011 and a $50,000 grant in 2014 to provide 450,000 meals to the Houston community. Every dollar donated to the Food Bank can provide three meals. Bank Of America Group.jpg

Knowing that, Bank of America matches individual donations through its Give a Meal program. Thanks to the generous contributions of Houston-area individuals last year, the program raised $112,000, which provided 336,000 meals or the ability to feed 316 people for one full year.

“Thanks to the incredible support shown by Houstonians, we were able to raise $112,000 through Bank of America’s Give a Meal program in collaboration with Feeding America and the Houston Food Bank.  This funding equals 336,000 meals that will be provided to those in need,” said Hong Ogle, Houston President, Bank of America. “This incredible feat was made possible by the bank’s two-to-one dollar match and the generous support of our community.  Let’s continue to continue to work together and we’ll be able to make great strides in ending hunger in Houston.”

Hundreds of Bank of America employees also volunteer at the Houston Food Bank each year. Most recently, more than 100 employees spent a December afternoon packing boxes of food weighing 22,080 pounds – the equivalent of 18,400 meals. 20 bank employees helped with the food drive in which Houstonians in need of food call in for help locating a local food pantry in their community. The bank employees answered 838 calls helping feed 2,962 people.
