Feeding with Impact April update

The Houston Food Bank (HFB) has been very actively engaged in working to assure that our request is fully funded.  In early February, Brian Greene, President and CEO of the HFB, Dr. Pamela Berger, HFB’s Public Policy Manager, and Dr. Valerie Hawthorne, HFB’s Public Policy Apple Corps volunteer, visited with members of HFB’s State delegation and their staff in Austin.  In late February they were joined by HFB Board Member (and former-Chair) Ben Samuels in more Austin visits to another group of HFB delegation members and their staff.

At this time it is not possible to predict the fate of our quest to significantly fund access to far more fresh produce to support and grow strategic programs which help move people out of poverty.  We will keep pressing for full funding – and working our way through a very crowded field of legislative initiatives.
