Houston Food Bank

Walk an Aisle with f.r.e.s.h.

The Houston Food Bank’s f.r.e.s.h. young professionals was launched in June 2014, and since inception has grown to 132 members. To date they have raised enough money to provide 75,000 meals to those in need. The group consists of socially conscious young professionals who are motivated to take action and bring awareness to the issue of hunger through fundraising, advocacy, social, and volunteer efforts.

Scott_McClelland.jpgf.r.e.s.h. seeks to provide exclusive opportunities for all members, and is now focused on providing unique leadership opportunities with the development of a Board. The f.r.e.s.h. Board will consist of 11 members with a higher level of involvement and interaction with the Houston Food Bank’s Board of Directors. If you or anyone you know is interested in the f.r.e.s.h. Board, please visit our webpage for the application and additional information.

One important component of f.r.e.s.h. membership is access to educational opportunities. In March, f.r.e.s.h. members will join Scott McClelland, the President of H-E-B Houston, to experience the challenges Houston Food Bank clients face while at the grocery store. 1 in 5 people in the Houston area are affected by hunger, and are challenged daily to prioritize basic necessities like food, medicine and rent. It will be a very eye-opening experience for f.r.e.s.h. members.
