Backpack Blast is a hit!

More than 200 people gathered on Tuesday, September 9th for a full day of clay shooting, shooting games, awards ceremony and barbecue dinner at the inaugural sporting clays tournament at the Greater Houston Gun Club. Attendees shot down hunger with proceeds benefiting the Houston Food Bank’s Backpack Buddy program.

The Backpack Buddy program provides child-friendly, nonperishable and easily consumed food for children in need over the weekends. Many of the children who participate in the program go home to meager or no meals on the weekends and rely on free or reduced-priced lunches during the school week. Backpack Blast raised nearly $300,000 that will go towards the Backpack Buddy program.
