Give your employees a meaningful volunteer experience
If you’re looking for an experience that will engage your
employees by giving back to the community, boosting team building skills, and
having fun at the same time, then look no further than the Houston Food Bank’s
Feed ‘n Lead program! The Feed ‘n Lead program is designed to break down the communication barriers many corporations face in the office while also
including a customized volunteer experience focused on engaging employees and
developing new communication skills necessary in the workplace. The program also includes a professional facilitator that understands the group’s goals and
strategically engages the employees through the experience. Participants begin by learning more about the Houston Food Bank’s mission and how hunger
truly is an important issue in the Houston community.
Once participants learn about the Houston Food Bank
they have the opportunity to make a difference themselves. Participants then split into teams and begin their own efforts to help end hunger.
Teams are allowed - and encouraged - to create team captains, cheers, names and additional
roles in order to develop chemistry amongst the group. The teams then
participate in a customized volunteer experience that challenges team
building and role responsibility by competing to see who can create the most
senior boxes or Backpack Buddy bags for the Houston community.
Throughout the competition the facilitator challenges the team to work through conflict and understand why communication is
important to not only the volunteer activity, but also how to relate this back
to the office as well. Feed ‘n Lead is a great program for organizations
looking to host a retreat, or for organizations with a philanthropic spirit or
looking to encourage more philanthropy in the work place.
