Tenth anniversary of Empty Bowls Houston a success Empty Bowls provides 240,000 meals for people in need
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Empty Bowls in Houston, the Empty Bowls Steering Committee invited a number of the area's finest craft artists who have significantly supported Empty Bowls Houston through the years to create unique bowls incorporating the theme of "10." Thirty-two artists responded enthusiastically, created pieces with the theme of "10" embedded through ten nested bowls, ten facets, ten stitches, ten scallops, among other approaches. These finely crafted, one-of-a-kind bowls made from clay, wood, glass and fiber, were displayed in a special exhibition - "Empty Bowls: 10 Years of Hope through Art - A Special Exhibition and Silent Auction by the Craft Community and Archway Gallery Artists" - at Archway Gallery through May 31. All proceeds benefited the Houston Food Bank. Thank you to our 2014 sponsors: Whole Foods Market; Archway Gallery; Ceramic Store; Coldwell Bankers United, Realtors; Good Pop; Houston Center for Contemporary Craft; Katz Coffee; LD Systems; The Mad Potter; and Waste Management. |
